ASCI Table of Extended Special Characters – Print this handy table and pin it on a wall near you if you deal with a lot of international characters but want to keep your Windows keyboard on the standard US English setting. If you'd prefer to view this in HTML format in a new browser window, click here.To enter any special "extended charter," just follow these simple steps:
  1. Make sure your "Num Lock" key is "on." If you're working from a laptop, you might need to use a "function (Fn)" key to toggle the "num lock" on. There is a light on the Num Lock key or elswhere near your keypad.
  2. Hold down the "Alt" key while entering the four-digit code from this document into your numeric keypad.
NOTE: If you're using MS Word and you use that character a lot, you may want to use the "auto-correct" feature in Word (refer to Word's help file) for faster entry of this character in the future. With that feature, you just type an English word you'll remember for that character then press F3 with the cursor at the end of the word.
